If you are a senior over 55 there’s a wonderful volunteer program for you to work with our youth! United Way has a Foster Grandparent Program that allows seniors 55 and over to work with children in schools, after-school programs, and daycares. There are income eligibility requirements, but seniors can have an opportunity to make a little extra income from a volunteer stipend for their service. United Way asks you be able to volunteer 20 hours a week with their program. Volunteers will work with children who need a little extra help in school and would benefit from one on one mentoring. If you meet the age requirement you can learn more about the program and find out how to apply by calling United Way at 304-340-3636.
